Interactive Lighting Installation Driven By Breath
Floral Meditation is a wearable physical computing project that translates one's breathing pattern into tangible rhythmic movement and visual lighting effect. Breathing is the kind of activity we do very moment of our daily life in order to survive. Yet we are so used to it that we tend to take it for granted, totally oblivious of its inherent meditative value. This project was made to bring back such awareness.
One day I found this magic flower-like toy ball in a dumpster and instantly got fascinated by its beautiful moving pattern. While I was playing with the ball I found my breaths automatically synchronized with its rhythm, therefore having this idea of visualizing our invisible breathing pattern so as to help us immerse ourselves in a meditative environment and experience the beauty and calmness it should provide.
Arduino was used for physical input and output and also OpenFrameworks was used for data visualization.
